Lincoln, the teen Lincoln got the chance to make the history of football when he was a part of his team, the Rubro Negro, the team which he had always rooted from the beginning when he was a child.
Flamengo’s incredible run this season was a memorable one. They won the Brazil Serie A, defeating River Plate in the Copa Libertadores final, and getting into The Club World Cup. It appeared that those memorable moments would remain forever in the hearts of the fans and players’ heads.
According to Source Link, Lincoln could recall a variety of memorable experiences as part of the team. One of them was the team’s match against Rio opponents Botafogo in November of 2019 when the team almost had the chance to draw, but Lincoln had the chance to preserve the team’s undefeated streak at the time.
It’s always beneficial to go to derbies, particularly those in the region where the stadium is packed”, Lincoln declared. “Rivalry games always have a unique flavor. The moment you score a goal like that is an unforgettable sensation. Imagine winning in the home of your opponent in the final minute. It was amazing’.
Flamengo manager Jorge Jesus came into the team in early January as their manager in June of 2019. The’Messiah’ nickname has altered the team’s playing style, bringing to a European preference in their Brazil style of play during the time.
Jorge Jesus focused on high-tempo rapid-paced, high-pressure gameplay. This was a common practice in Europe, where Jorge Jesus was a coach. This was a completely new experience for Lincoln, who was accustomed to the American playing style.
“It was an entirely fresh experience for me. Jesus introduced different approaches and a lot of pressure, not only on me but everyone on the team’ Lincoln declared about Jesus the moment of his arrival. “He was always talking with me and gave me the attention I couldn’t think of. He constantly advised me to pursue the goals more clearly and focus more on the goals. He helped me grow older and become more mature in my field. Definitely’.
Under the leadership of Jorge Jesus at the helm, the team transformed and was a beast on the playing field. The team could record a stunning 28-6-4 record to win the title. It also boasted unbeaten play for 24 games, which beat the record of all-time set by Cruzeiro, Corinthians, and Palmeiras in previous seasons.
Lincoln was almost able to get a shot to show the qualities he has in the team’s victory against River Plate. Lincoln was poised to step in, but Gabriel Barbosa sank a goal to break the tie, later the game’s winner.
To be honest, I believed that my time was going to come. He was a great source of faith and always advised me to work towards the end. I was sure that if I took a step towards that direction, something positive was bound to take place. I felt it,’ Lincoln declared about the moment. I was elated to see Gabigol score goals to bring us the title. I was very happy in the middle of the field’.
“It was a moment I’ll keep for a lifetime. The title of Champion in the Libertadores after the club’s waiting for 38 years for, and that’s not all, Flamengo is a team with a place close to my heart and to be able to do this feat with Flamengo is truly a unique feeling’ Lincoln added.
Lincoln took part during his first Club World Cup after that. Jorge Jesus gave him plenty of playing time, and he delivered with his performance, as the 18-year-old performed very well, even though he lost to Liverpool in extra time.
“It was another dream that came to life, he said. “Seeing world-renowned players in front of them was a great experience. I would like to see us meet these players more frequently’.

“They’re nice guys and easy to get along with and they always work to help us — the young players in the right direction both in and off the pitch.”
