Dry Sift
Dry sift is probably the least complicated method of making hash. All you need is a couple of things to make a high-grade hash.
The dry sift procedure uses friction to isolate trichomes from your plant derivatives.
Trichomes are the resin-producing glands that cover the buds of the female pot plant and are laden with cannabinoids and terpenes.
When these are isolated from the plant matter, they form a kief substance.
Things you’ll need:
- Cannabis bud or trim
- Micron screens
- Plastic card/ scraper
- Disposable gloves
Method:
- Start by setting up micron screens and stack them in ascending order.
- Wear gloves and place your plant material on top of the screen.
- Apply gentle pressure and rub your trims/ buds for a couple of minutes. The friction created will break trichomes and not push plant material down the screen.
- Lift the top screen of the stack. You will see a layer of kief gathered on the screen below.
- You can either smoke it as it is or clean it further.
- For cleaning, gently move the card/ scraper on the kief for some time and life the screen. The layer below the screen will be cleaner.
- If you want a cleaner hash, you can repeat the process.
Bubble Hash
Bubble Hash uses friction for getting rid of trichomes from plant material. Rather than using dry screens, bubble hash uses packs filled with water and ice.
Things you’ll need:
- Cannabis bud or trim
- Micron’ bubble packs.’
- 2 x 5-gallon buckets
- Blending device
- Ice
- Water
- Plastic card/ scrubber
Method:
- Set your micron sacks in a bucket. The one with the lowest micron count will go at the bottom, and the highest one will go at the top.
- Fill the top one with layers of ice and plant material.
- Pour water to cover the plant material and ice.
- Mix the blend with hands or a blender for 10-15 minutes, lift the top bag, squeeze the plant material, and remove the liquid. Please place it in another bucket.
- After lifting other bags, you will see a layer of trichomes.
- Scratch these off using your plastic card and dry them on the screen.
- Once dried, scratch your bubble hash into clean glass containers to store.
Charas:
Charas is perhaps the most usual method of making hash without solvent. All you want to make it is some weed and your hands.
Things you’ll need:
- Fresh Marijuana
- Dish cleanser and vegetable oil for cleaning your hands
Method:
- Firstly, wash your hands.
- Pick a medium-sized bud with the stem intact. Squeeze it gently and start rolling the bud gently between your hands very slowly.
- You will see a resin buildup after a while.
- Keep scouring your hands together with the goal that the resin starts to shape a stick or a ball.
- Store charas in an air-tight compartment and clean your hands well.
